Painting Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson, a legend, a man that fascinates and inspires me. He inspires me with his art, his life story and the love he felt for humanity. There is so much said and told about this man. A man, I believe, was highly misunderstood, but what his millions of fans understood (and still understand) is his LOVE what is experienced through his art, music and dance.

It felt like a honor to paint Michael Jackson with my friend and artist Teri Davis and to make a video of the process with Michael’s inspiring message and music. I feel very connected to his message. I don’t know exactly where I am going, but I do know the ‘blueprint’ of it all. All that I want to do is to share, give and love through different forms of expressing myself. ART, in the flow of the moment. Painting Michael awoke the limitless creativity in me again… “Stepping into the river and joining the flow”.

The painting is in black and white and so is the video mostly. The light and love he shined on the world in contrast with the intense and sometimes difficult life in the spotlight. The great contrast of his life, makes his story even more inspiring.

There is a side of me that struggles with life from time to time, struggling against the natural flow of life. Something we can all relate to. Struggling with concepts of how thing should be, how I should be, how the world should be. The bigger the contrast, the stronger the desire to give up the fight and to step back into the river of life again. In that moment it takes me over…  and I feel an instrument of nature again.

“People ask me how I make music. I tell them I just step into it. It’s like stepping into a river and joining the flow. Every moment in the river has its song. So I stay in the moment and listen. What I hear is never the same. A walk through the woods brings a light, crackling song: Leaves rustle in the wind, birds chatter and squirrels scold, twigs crunch underfoot and the beat of my heart holds it all together. When you join the flow, the music is inside and outside, and both are the same. As long as I can listen to the moment, I’ll always have music.” – Michael Jackson in his book Dancing the Dream
