In my personal awakening journey of self-discovery and transformation, I’ve found that integrating these four pillars into daily life is essential. The pillars aren’t just supports for personal growth; they’re pathways leading to deeper understanding, a shift in consciousness, healing, and self-realization—resulting in a greater sense of purpose, spontaneity, and the interconnectedness of all things.
The awakening journey is ultimately about uncovering our true essence, transcending limiting beliefs, and aligning with a higher state of being.
To awaken to our true selves and live in alignment, it’s crucial to go beyond our physical bodies and identities. Simply knowing intellectually that we are not our thoughts, emotions, and senses isn’t enough.
We must actively engage in mindfulness and self-awareness practices to expand and maintain conscious awareness of ourselves in the present moment—observing thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without judgment.
Gaining a deeper understanding of the nature of reality and recalling our inherent essence feels like coming home.
PRACTICES
Mindfulness Meditation
Use the power of intention to see through the stories of the mind. Practice present-moment awareness and self-observation.
Do Nothing Meditation
Take time each day to do nothing. Whatever arises, do nothing. Just be with what is. Notice and let go. Release.
Body Scanning
Incorporate a body scan meditation into your daily routine to check in with your physical sensations and emotions.
Mindful Walking
Practice mindful walking by paying attention to each step and your surroundings.
Pause and Breathe
Take a 2-5-second pause and take a deep breath. Repeat many times during the day.
Self-education is all about taking charge of our own learning journey. Learning something new is like giving our brain a workout and expanding our horizons. We gain knowledge, skills, and understanding through reading, research, experimentation, and practical experience. Not just random topics, but topics that spark our curiosity.
Seek to learn about the self and the nature of reality, including quantum physics, spirituality, philosophy, and esoteric subjects. We are lifelong explorers and will never stop expanding, growing, and learning new things.
PRACTICES
Daily Learning
Commit to learning something new each day, whether it’s reading a book, watching educational videos, listening to podcasts, or learning a new language.
Skill Development
Identify a skill you want to develop and practice it regularly through online courses, tutorials, or hands-on experience.
Self-Reflective Learning
Reflect on your own experiences, successes, and failures to extract lessons and insights for personal growth and development.
Foundational wellbeing is like the roots of a tree – it’s what keeps us grounded and strong. Whether it’s getting enough sleep, regular exercise, or taking care of our mental and emotional health, it’s all about building a solid foundation.
A stable foundation is essential for your wellbeing; without it, leading a fulfilling life is impossible.
PRACTICES
Body Nourishment
Eat well and nutritious, exercise regularly, stretch, get quality sleep, take cold showers, spend time in nature.
Emotional Resilience
Understand your triggers, traumas, and shadows so they can be healed, integrated, and transformed into gifts. Take time to reflect on your emotions, reactions, and uncomfortable sensations in the body.
Purpose and Belonging
Cultivate meaningful relationships and social connections with friends, family, or community members to support your emotional wellbeing and sense of belonging. Having like-minded people around or being part of a community is not a luxury but a necessity.
Expressing our ideas through art, writing, speech, projects, business, behavior, or any other outlet is a fundamental aspect of our communication, identity, and our life’s work. Allowing ourselves to express our unique perspectives, qualities, and emotions is how we share our gifts with others. It is also important in our healing journey.
It doesn’t matter how we express ourselves or through what means, as long as we do so authentically.
PRACTICES
Daily Creativity
Set aside time each day to engage in a creative activity such as painting, writing, photography, cooking, storytelling, designing, acting, music, or dancing.
Journaling
Write in a journal regularly to express your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a private and reflective space.
